To make this shot happen we had to corral 9 cars and many more owners/drivers than that. Definitely more difficult than herding cats. This was planned to shoot with evening light and I really wanted some clouds and to be able to see the mountains in the distance so timing was really important. I schedule a time to have everyone meet and I had get there early enough that we could make sure that the space we needed was clear of people and other vehicles. Once the Rolling Bones hot rods arrived I climbed up on top of the roof of the jeep that I was going to shoot from so that I could direct each car to the position and angle for the shot. This shot was not about individual cars but about all of the Rolling Bones hot rods that were there for 2022 Speed Week–or the “Circus” as we affectionately call the dysfunctional, crazy fun group that makes this pilgrimage each year.
